This tincture is a blend of herbs traditionally used to ease afterpains which may occur after 2nd and subsequent babies, as the uterus involutes following childbirth. They tend to get worse the more children you have, so here's a way to bless your hard-working uterus and make that lovely post-natal baby-gazing time a little nicer for you.
It contains herbal extracts of:
Black Cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa) - a uterine tonic and spasmolytic, helps treat spasmodic uterine cramps.
Crampbark (Viburnum opulus) - with muscle relaxant and anti-spasmodic actions, this herb also nourishes and soothes the nervous system with its nervine and sedative effects.
Corydalis (Corydalis ambigua) – this herb is a mild sedative and analgesic, with a particular affinity for spasmodic and visceral pain. Corydalis soothes emotional stress and anxiety and is useful for dysmenorrhoea (painful period cramps), showing its effectiveness for uterine spasm (This herb should not be used during pregnancy).
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) – a spasmolytic herb which means it reduces spasm such as uterine cramps during menstruation and after birth. With hormone balancing and galactogogue actions, it is particularly useful in the post natal period. (Galactogue = enhances production and flow of breastmilk).
Ginger (Zingiber officinale) - this warming herb has been used to treat the pain of spasmodic dymenorrhoea and endometriosis. Relaxes spasm & soothes stressed nerves.
Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa) - with anti-spasmodic and hormone-modulating actions, this herb has a special affinity for female reproductive organs. Helpful for menstrual spasm and reduces the intensity of post-natal after pains.
The minimum dose is 5 ml (two droppers-ful).
