Your skin will love it - but insects hate it!
Made with pure natural ingredients, this balm is safe for the whole family.
As with anything, patch test first before applying more liberally, as some skin types can be sensitive to certain essential oils.
Be careful to avoid the eyes and mucous membranes.
The Aussie Mozzie Insect Repellent Herbal Balm contains:
- Infused oils of:
* Grapefruit skin
* Wormwood
* Tomato Leaves
- Organic cold-pressed oils of:
* Coconut - contains lauric acid which repels insects, and make it difficult for bugs to land on the skin.
* Neem - contains the compound Azadirachtin which repels insects & interrupts their reproductive cycle
- Essential oils of:
* Citronella
* Lemon Eucalyptus- The main component of oil of lemon eucalyptus that gives it its repellency to bugs is a chemical called p-Menthane-3,8-diol, or PMD. PMD came to the attention of U.S. scientists in the 1990s after they learned that a Chinese insect repellent called 'Quwenling' was performing better than many other plant-based repellents.
* Lemongrass
* Lemon-scented Tea Tree
* Peppermint - studies showed strong repellent action against adult mosquitoes when applied on human skin.
* Thyme - has mosquito repellent properties which even surpassed DEET in one study.
- Tomato Leaf Absolute (Lycopersicon esculentum) - You know that pungent smell of tomato leaves & stalks? That's to protect that plant from insects. A 2002 study showed that the substance produced by tomato plants repels mosquitos & other insects more effectively than DEET.
- Beeswax - the consistency of the beeswax helps the balm 'stick' to the skin, and provides a protective barrier that makes it hard for mosquitos to land and bite.
