This tea contains herbs considered to be "haemostatic" by herbalists, which may help prevent excessive third stage bleeding, support the uterus, reduce after-pains and warm & nourish the mother.
The tea can be used instead of, or as well as, the After Birth Bliss tea, at any time when the need for further support to prevent excessive blood loss is felt.
The No Bleed Bliss tea contains:
Cinnamon (Cinnamomum aromatica)– a warming herb which stimulates the circulation, relieves spasms and helps control bleeding.
Cramp Bark (Viburnum opulus) – acts on the uterus to help it involute and birth the placenta. Reduces uterine cramps and afterpains.
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)– an oestrogenic herbs which acts on the uterus to reduce cramping and pain, has anti-spasmodic and analgesic properties.
Lady’s Mantle (Alchemilla vulgaris) – a bitter, astringent, anti-haemorrhagic herb with veno-tonic properties to controls bleeding and discharge.
Red Raspberry Leaf (Rubus idaeus) - contains fragrine, an alkaloid, which nourishes and tones the uterus muscle. Richly nutritious, an excellent tonic which helps prevent haemorrhage.
Shepherd’s Purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris)– this is a uterine anti-haemorrhagic herb, an astringent herb with blood coagulant properties, used internally by herbalists to curb excessive bleeding.
How to use the tea:
Place 1 -2 tablespoons of the loose herbs in non-metallic jug or pot.
Add approximately 1 cup of hot water.
Cover and steep for 5-10 minutes.
Add Manuka honey and/or lemon if desired, and serve to the mother soon after birth, at a suitable temperature for swallowing through a straw.
